Here at Cook Wealth, we know life is about so much more than money or taxes. And we care about creating a life— for ourselves and our clients— full of opportunities to share, care, serve, and support. That’s why we headed out into our local Raleigh community and did what matters most to each of us— helping those around us live life empowered.
This year, we’re grateful for the opportunity to serve Ronald McDonald House families
When we thought about how we wanted to serve together as a team this holiday season, we loved the idea of providing a hot meal and connecting with folks in challenging circumstances. After some research and planning, we settled on visiting the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill.
The Ronald McDonald House is a special place where families can stay overnight and enjoy a warm meal while their child is in treatment at a local hospital. A child facing a life-altering medical crisis is one of the most challenging situations a parent can ever face— and the Ronald McDonald House embraces these parents, delivering hope when it’s needed most.
Here in Chapel Hill, the Ronald McDonald House first opened its doors in 1988. The house supports nearly 5,000 stays per year in 53 bedrooms, providing a warm meal to every family, every single night.
As we learned about the work Ronald McDonald House is doing here in North Carolina, we knew we wanted to help.
At Cook Wealth, we value caring for families— both here in North Carolina and across the US. Whether we’re serving families in crisis, helping parents plan for the future, or working with grandparents to build a lasting legacy, we cherish every opportunity to help.
Here’s what Jason, a member of our joint tax and financial planning team, had to say about the experience:
“Much thanks to the Cook Wealth team for getting our Ronald McDonald House families fed last night. There were nearly 50 guests staying at the House, and they and the staff were super impressed with the spread we delivered. As Treasurer of the Board of Directors for the Chapel Hill House (soon to be merged with the local Durham and Wake Ronald McDonald Houses), I want to express my appreciation to Cook Wealth for supporting the cause and helping families who are in need during an exceptionally difficult time!”
Due to the lasting effects of COVID-19, and these families’ high likelihood of immune-compromised hospital patients, we were not permitted to hang out or closely interact with folks this time. And while we were disappointed to miss out on the opportunity to come in and cook for these families (we delivered a Cracker Barrel catered meal instead), we were still so grateful to offer warm Southern comfort food and do what we could to support the wellbeing of families in difficult circumstances.
The Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill is always looking for kind-hearted volunteers. Want to help us serve these families?
