What is your financial superpower?
Portfolio building. I learn the unique challenges the investor faces, look deep into the risks and makeup of our economy, and create a truly custom portfolio. By building a well-diversified portfolio for each client, we aim to weed out risks that are unnecessary to create positive outcomes.
What makes you unique as an advisor?
I’m here to serve and I listen before I speak. I’m not shy about my desire to make a positive impact in the world. In all I do, I seek to integrate my Christian faith into my work. For me, that means being there for my clients through celebrations and disappointments.
What are your beliefs about your profession?
Financial advising, in my opinion, is among the least-trusted professions.
I joined Cook Wealth because I believe the industry can and will do better. Cook Wealth is doing that. I see myself (and Cook Wealth) as clients’ tennis “doubles partner.” Instead of selling products that do not fit their needs, I am on the same side of the net, planning our attack and volleying back any challenges. I don’t consider selling them something that benefits me and not them. I’m my clients’ partner, so we’re on the same team.
What’s the most fun part of your job?
I absolutely love meeting clients and hearing their stories. As I listen to narratives of career journeys, family dynamics, and concerns about the future, I’m honored to be invited into their lives! Connecting hopes and fears to solutions and plans – it never gets old!
Do you work with a special market or are you drawn to one?
I find great joy coaching retirees through their legacy plan and I have just as much fun coaching new investors to make healthy financial decisions. At the beginning of one’s financial journey, there are so many great milestones. I love celebrating the purchase of a first home, clearing those first budgeting hurdles, and growing through early career decisions. Likewise, I love walking with retirees as they consider their meaningful legacy, their philanthropic impact, and the creative ways we can make their legacies endure even beyond their lifetime.
Is there anything in your life personally that has helped motivate you to improve the financial situation of yourself and your clients?
I absolutely love when a client sees their plan and feels confident in it. With so much uncertainty in life, it is such a privilege to be invited into a client’s journey.
